When you first open your dollhouse kit, the assembly process can seem daunting. The first thing you need to do is gather all the supplies you will need, and one of the most important supplies for building dollhouse kits is glue. Most dollhouse kits are meant to be assembled with glue. You’ll also need glue for many other miniature projects, from installing rugs and wallpaper to creating miniature furniture. But you won’t need a huge collection of different glues for your miniature projects. Just a few guys will go a long way.

When building dollhouse kits, expect to use a lot of wood glue. Opt for one that dries clear, not yellow. You will also need craft glue, such as Aleene’s Tacky Glue or Elmer’s Glue. Both can be used for most purposes, whether you are assembling the dollhouse or finishing smaller miniature projects. When you can’t tape or hold the pieces together while they dry, use an adhesive like Liquid Nails or Super Glue, which will dry much faster.

Although most types of glue can be safely used to build dollhouse kits and other miniature projects, you should never use hot glue. Hot glue guns are difficult to use on small dots without making a mess or burning your fingers. Also, hot or cold temperatures have a big effect on this glue, which can cause pieces to fall apart. Although it can be tempting to hot glue your entire dollhouse together, you’ll end up doing more harm than good.

In addition to glue, you’ll also want to gather a few different supplies to use when gluing dollhouse miniatures together. Clothespins, paper clips, and rubber bands make great “clamps” to hold pieces in place while they dry. Duct tape can also be used to hold things together, though you’ll want to be careful about the types of surfaces you’re gluing to.

Various other household tools will come in handy when you’re spreading glue in tight spaces. Have a box of tissues and a roll of paper towels handy to clean up any excess glue. The toothpicks will help you place a small glue tab in a corner or a small joint. Bottle caps and caps make great containers when you’re working with a small amount of glue or paint. These additional tools will come in handy for building dollhouse miniatures.
