The Old Course St Andrews Scotland – Here are 5 ways to ensure a tee time at St Andrews Old Course

The 5 ways to get a tee time are

  • Advance Reservations
  • the ticket
  • single golfer
  • old field experience
  • Golf Tour Operator

1.Advance Reservations

The early booking process is being modified for the 2015 season to align with the Old Course ballot where there is a draw to determine who has been successful.

Advance bookings will be accepted from 1000 BST on Wednesday 27th August for a period of 20 days until 1400 BST on Monday 15th September. A nerd will be drawn to determine departure time assignments.

The idea behind the change is to relieve the pressure of having to apply immediately after 1400 BST, as departure times will now be allocated randomly rather than on a first-come, first-served basis.

To apply, go to the ticket page on the St Andrews Links website, which will be available on 27 August. The website provides helpful information and guidelines for completing the form.

2. Daily ticket

Once advance bookings have been allocated, nearly 50% of the remaining tee times on the Old Course at St Andrews are allocated to the daily ticket.

This allows golfers who were unable to secure St Andrews Old Course tee times through advance bookings the opportunity to play the Old Course.

The daily ticket draw takes place 48 hours before the game date and applicants are required to provide their names, home club and handicap details, either by telephone, in the starters box at Old Course St Andrews or at one of the clubhouses before 14:00

Important points to remember if you are entering the Ballot

  • There must be at least 2 players, individual players cannot enter the ballot
  • Names, local club and handicaps are required.
  • The maximum handicaps are 24 for men and 36 for women.

You can enter the ticket

  • In person at the Old Course Starter Box
  • one of the club houses
  • By phone +44 (0)1334 466666

All 3 options must be completed before 2:00 p.m. 2 days before the game date

  • Golfers who are successful on the Ballot must present a current official handicap card, record or certificate to the holder before playing and a letter of introduction from a club professional is not accepted.
