Different types of catalogs, brochures and brochures

CATALOGS

Supply catalogs

A supply catalog is primarily designed to function within a business-to-business relationship, which means that you primarily sell your products or services to other businesses. Typically, a supply catalog includes your products, item numbers, and any detailed specifications for each product. The price is included along with any price details such as minimum orders, contact information, and shipping information. Some supply catalogs might even have an order form template that the customer can use to order. Images can be used to help your customers choose the right product, but it doesn’t have to be very fancy. More importantly, supply catalogs should be designed with efficient product organization so that your customers can easily find what they are looking for.

Retail catalogs

A retail catalog is when your company’s product or service is addressed directly to the public. It is with the retail catalog that the design of the catalog is crucial for your customer to want to see your products and buy them. This catalog can and should have a visual “wow” factor. Definitely use high quality images of your product and have your catalog professionally distributed. Paying attention to the “hot spot” areas of a catalog can greatly benefit your business in selling your products.

Digital catalogs

With technology advancing as fast as it is today, we should all be aware of the digital possibilities. Having a virtual catalog of your products available to your customers has never been easier than now. With the right tools, your catalog can be quickly downloaded and viewed efficiently. Your virtual catalog can be sent by email and you can offer an online purchase option. Now your customers can order at their convenience, at any time and day.

BROCHURES

Instruction manuals

Also called owner’s manuals, instruction manuals are created for any product that requires additional information on specifications, assembly, installation, service, warranties, safety, etc.

Reference guides

The Reference Guides are the “short and easy” version of the instruction manuals. They condense the information into the most important topics and instructions. This is especially beneficial if your detailed instruction booklet is 76 pages long and all you need is a quick reference guide to key features.

Briefcase

There are companies that could benefit greatly from having a professional portfolio to present to their clients. Companies that create custom products such as built-in cabinets, faux designs, woodwork, sculptures, etc. All of these companies could use a portfolio brochure to showcase their unique talents and expertise to potential clients. A portfolio brochure would not only inspire customer confidence in the quality of the craftsmanship, it would also reflect the company’s pride of ownership with a suitable portfolio brochure.

BROCHURES

Brochures brochures

The difference between a catalog and a brochure booklet is its purpose. A supply or retail catalog focuses on the product, and a brochure booklet discusses the product or service in a more informative and educational way. Brochure flyers are great professional sales tools to educate your customers on why they should choose you over your competitor. Booklet booklets are designed to have multiple pages bound, usually saddle stitched (stapled) at the fold. Booklet booklets can be as low as 8 pages (including front and back) and increase in multiples of 4 pages.

Pamphlet brochures

Widely used as a medium to advertise a business, product, or service, they can be bold, colorful, and informative. Brochures are often printed on a single sheet of glossy paper and most of the time in full color. There are many ways available by folding the paper in different ways. One of the most common is the tri-fold brochure, folded from 8 1/2 x 11 paper into three sections. Next in line is the two-fold brochure that is folded in the middle of the page. The two-fold booklet can be created from 11 x 17 size paper, folded in half.
