Dutch oven and pure clay: made for each other

a dutch oven

A Dutch oven is the king of the kitchen. It is a very flexible kitchen utensil. In it you can prepare a wide variety of dishes, from soups, stews to all kinds of rice and other casseroles. It is usually a two-piece cookware that includes a pot along with its tight-fitting lid. It has thicker walls than a normal pot and is used on the stovetop or in the oven. Because of its flexibility and usefulness, I choose to call it the ‘king’ of the kitchen.

pure clay

Pure clay is mined from uncultivated, unindustrialized land in the USA. It is by far the purest material for making cookware. It is naturally inert as it is free of chemical or metallic impurities, unlike conventional metal and ceramic cookware that leach metals and chemicals into food. Pure clay pots are made by hand without the use of chemicals or glazes to maintain their natural ability to be inert and safe for cooking. It is proven to be 100% non-toxic and healthy. In a world of toxic metal or ceramic cookware, pure clay pots stand out as the healthier alternative. Therefore, I choose to call it the ‘queen’ of kitchen materials.

the perfect couple

What happens when you pair them both? You get an ideal Dutch oven that cooks your food in the healthiest way possible. Not only does it not leach toxins into your food, but it also preserves its nutritional value with unique far-infrared heat cooking. This heat is food friendly and cooks without damaging nutrients.

Pure clay Dutch ovens require little to no supervision when cooking. The heat given to the pot stays inside so all recipes cook beautifully over medium heat, and many times you can conveniently turn the stove off even if the food isn’t fully cooked… it finishes cooking with retained heat inside.

Also, the steam management properties of pure clay pots are a blessing; The ergonomic design of the pot and lid can allow steam to circulate inside and food to cook with its own steam pressure. The straight sides of the pot, if the pot is made in concentric circles, the inside groove of the lid, and the cool bottom of a knob can allow steam to rise, condense, and fall back into the pot. Thus, water-soluble nutrients are not lost through evaporation.

No more toxins leaching into food – a healthy and delicious dish every time you cook in a pure clay Dutch oven. Besides the benefits, it’s easy to handle and just keeps getting better as it seasons (after 4-5 times of use).

Why this ‘couple’ should be part of your kitchen?

The popular cookware available in the market is made of metals or ceramics. At cooking temperatures, metals leach ions that react with food (a biochemical entity). These metals are then assimilated into our organs and blood with food, and continue to accumulate over time. Such toxins (metallic and chemical) are known to cause health problems that can range from allergies and minor illnesses to chronic illnesses. Also, the strong uneven heat from metal cooks food unevenly, damaging nutrients in the process. What is left is a food that is devoid of nutrients and full of toxins!

With so many health benefits, who wouldn’t want this perfect ‘couple’ to be a part of their kitchen? It’s about time you switched to a healthy pure dutch clay oven to enjoy a delicious meal with your family.
