Promoting yourself or your business in today’s world makes a difference. I take for example a particular animated movie that came out recently. It opened with a record low total income for the number of theaters it was in.

This puzzled me when I read it because I thought to myself that there was no way it wasn’t promoted enough for more people to see it. Even the worst movies feature decent trailers and play them repeatedly on different channels. But this particular movie didn’t do that, so no one saw it.

A movie ad is, in a way, a promotional gift. They are promoting their movie to us without us paying to see it. That is, of course, unless you pay to see a movie and are watching the trailers, in that case, you paid. But if you’re watching it on TV, you’re basically watching it for free.

But promotional gifts have an origin outside of technology. Have you ever received a promotional pen or mug? Free? That was a gift given by that company or its affiliate to swoon you into buying their product.

How is it different from other promotional products?

Well, on the one hand it is different and on the other it is not.

A promotional gift would be a gift, that is, free. This means that you should be able to go to a gift area and take the gift without a problem.

A promotional product certainly encompasses what the promotional gift is (the gift is clearly a product), however, you may need to purchase the product.

Maybe you are a big fan of the local radio station. Sometimes the station gives away T-shirts. By using it you are promoting them, other times the station will have a setting where you can buy their t-shirts. It is no longer a gift, it is still a product and a product that you can buy.

What kind of gifts are there?

Promotional gifts are as versatile as promotional products. They can range from pens, hats, shirts, watches, clocks, calendars, planners, bumper stickers, campaign buttons and stickers, and anything in between.

Perhaps the company even gives its employees certain items to take home as gifts.
