Blue screen: how to solve this Windows problem

Blue Screen of Death (Blue Screen of Doom or Windows Stop Error) is a term used when a PC displays an error screen and depending on the term used, the screen displayed is usually blue with one or more messages or error codes. This is commonly used for operating systems run by Microsoft Windows. It means that a serious error has occurred in the system. Since to date, there are several types of Windows operating system, the cause of having a blue screen generally varies from each type. For Windows NT, for example, the Windows stop error usually occurs when there is a hardware malfunction or when device drivers are not installed correctly or are faulty.

BSoD on Win9x operating systems is the result of system kernel errors or mismatched DLLs. Very often, simple errors like poor power supplies, faulty memory, hardware collapse due to operating beyond its limit or when parts of the computer are overheating. For the older version of Windows Vista, a red screen appears instead of blue and with the black OS / 2 screen of death indicates the system error. And even the first Windows operating system, Windows 3.1, suffered from this stop screen.

So how can this problem be solved? For the not-so-serious errors, restarting the computer would fix the problem. As a consequence, certain data may be lost, especially when these errors are not anticipated. When this problem occurs, there are usually error codes that usually contain certain technical values ​​in parentheses that allow computer technicians or software engineers to fix the problem or at least locate where the problem started. When a BSoD is caused by a bootloader error, which occurs when the processor cannot enter the boot partition due to a corrupted file system or incorrect storage drivers, it can be repaired by booting from the Microsoft Windows CD.

If the error is not fixed with a simple reboot, it is best to find out where the problem originated, as an initial step. When you turn on the PC and there is a BSoD, even when the system is in safe mode, most of the time there is a hardware problem. If you just installed new hardware, try removing it and see if the problem goes away. If you haven’t installed anything, try looking for other problems that may have occurred. If it is not a hardware problem, start your PC in safe mode and run a virus scan or spyware scan. If there is a virus or problem after scanning, take care of them and restart the PC in normal mode. If there are no viruses, restart in safe mode one more time and use the system restore utility. If still nothing works and you were able to get the error code and another error message, search for troubleshooting methods online. For those who are tech-savvy and can troubleshoot themselves, they can use registry cleaners that are available. If all else fails, it is never too late to ask a technician for help.
