Can Arsenal realistically win the EPL this season?

Arsenal’s two main problems in the past have been closing out close games (such as when they win 1-0 and conceding a last-minute equalizer) and beating more physical teams in away games (such as Bolton, Blackburn and Stoke). .

The problem with these highly physical squads is that they tend to intimidate Arsenal players (it’s no secret that Arsenal’s squad consists mostly of young talent as their average age is only 22). The philosophy of Arsenal and Arsene Wenger is to leave the ball on the ground and play exquisite football. Most teams try (and fail) to prevent them from playing their passing game, but it seems that the Northwest teams are a little better than most.

So can the Gunners lift the Premier League trophy this year? Arsenal’s season is built on many big ‘if’s. If they can get Robin Van Persie (arguably their best player and certainly their best striker) back to fitness and firing on all cylinders, as well as the currently injured Cesc Fabregas, then they certainly stand a chance.

It was only about a month ago that it seemed like they were out of the title race for good (after losing so convincingly to Chelsea and opening up an 11-point gap). Now though, it looks like if they win their match tomorrow, they will only be 1 point behind the league leaders. This is partly down to Arsenal’s revitalized form, as well as Chelsea and Man Utd’s recent slump in form.
