Did Eminem ever wrestle Eyedea in freestyle?

One of the most popular subcultures of the hip hop genre is freestyle battle rap art. Over the years many of the most famous rappers and this art form have built very successful careers in the recording industry. Without striving to be the catalyst for their fame and fan base, it’s highly unlikely that they would have received this amount of success otherwise. Many fans of these rappers, and other famous rappers alike, are incredibly interested in hearing the details of the alleged freestyle battles that have occurred between them and others in the past. Some of these alleged clashes of lyrical wit have become the stuff of rap legend, with very few people knowing the exact details of what happened, other than the two rappers personally involved.

Although many of these alleged rap battles have become very famous over the years, none of them are as talked about as the alleged fight between hip hop icon Eminem and underground freestyle battle rap legend Eyedea. Fans in rap circles around the world have been constantly talking about this supposed battle for years, but have never come to a definitive conclusion or answer.

The general consensus is that this match has never happened and that it would have been impossible for these two to meet under any circumstances. This is supported by the geographic locations of each wrapper being so far apart from each other. It is noted that while these two emcees used to be frequent regulars on the battle circuit, they never participated in the same event officially or unofficially, making it extremely unlikely that they would have a private one-on-one battle.

Another reason that points to the unlikelihood of this match happening is the fact that no witnesses have ever come forward to testify that the match never ended. Also, neither Eminem nor Eyedea have stated that this encounter ever happened, making the chance of it happening extremely unlikely.

But contrary to the points made above, which are quite valid, there is one person who claims to have the footage on film. Phillip Drummond, one of the pioneers of freestyle battle footage, has seen thousands of classic battles appear live, in front of him. Responsible for launching the incredibly successful Battle of Mind Games 2, he is one of the most legendary people involved in battle rap today. And he himself claims that he is the only person who has this footage. Unfortunately, when many fans asked him to watch it, he immediately turned them down, sometimes violently, leaving battle fans in shock and not knowing if the battle actually took place or not.

So in conclusion, at this time there is no specific evidence linking these 2 lyrical warriors officially. But until Phillip Drummond is proven to be a liar about the footage of him, the mystery will certainly live on to fight another day.
