Kurt Wallander is a detective who solves big crimes. The only problem is that he seems to be the dumbest detective ever. Wallander doesn’t follow the rules, and people get hurt as a result.

Wallander solves the crimes, but he does it in a way that hurts people. He can’t maintain a relationship. He can’t even get along with his own daughter.

In one episode, Kurt Wallander searches for information on a suspect. He is not authorized to enter the property of the perpetrator. The gate to the property is locked, but Wallander decides to ignore all warnings.

Kurt has a fellow police detective accompanying him. She asks him to get a warrant before trying to contact the suspect again. Kurt ignores her request and proceeds to jump the fence and trespass onto the property.

Why is Kurt so stupid? On the initial visit to the suspect, Kurt noticed that the suspect had dogs. Yes, you read that right, multiple dogs that can bite and insult humans. Did that stop Kurt from jumping over the wall and trying to find evidence without a warrant? No!

Wallander doesn’t just get into trouble, he drags others close to him into danger. So he jumps the fence and his detective partner decides to follow him. The other detective was just covering his back like a good detective should.

Kurt immediately sees a dog on a leash. There is no one else around, so he assumes the coast is clear. The other detective has to remind the idiot that there were two dogs on the property. Suddenly the other dog is charging at Kurt Wallander and the other detective. The dog jumps on Kurt and takes him to the ground.

A police detective looking for information probably has some form of protection available. Kurt Wallander couldn’t think that far ahead. They took a big bite out of his forearm. The detective with him had to sit back and watch in horror as this dog proceeds to grab Kurt Wallanders’ arm like the turkey at a Thanksgiving dinner. He doesn’t know what to do and doesn’t have a clear goal with the dog. So she has to wait for a clean look. Could she get worse?

The other dog that is tied up finds a way to free himself. Now there is another dog coming directly at the detective. She fires a few rounds into the air. The charging dog doesn’t stop and she ends up knocking him down. The other dog that was on Wallander gets away long enough for her to stop him as well.

The detective does everything she’s supposed to do. She protects Wallander. They can breathe for a few moments. What happens next is just amazing. The two detectives are talking and the suspect walks up, swings a sledgehammer and hits the detective in the head. Wallander does nothing. He just stands there in awe when this bully hits his partner like he’s a major league baseball home run derby champion.

Kurt Wallander is a dumb detective. This is just an incident. There are many more. For a guy who’s smart enough to solve complex cases, he sure can do some of the silliest things imaginable.
