OBE Vibrations: 3 Ways to Tell How Close You Are to an OBE or Lucid Dream

Here in part 10 you will find out why everything you have read about OBE vibrations in books is wrong and you will discover the 3 easiest ways to tell how close you are to an OBE.

The 3 main signs to know how close you are to an Obe

If you have never performed an OBE before, it is extremely difficult to tell if you are making progress until you are already out of your body or in a lucid dream. What you need are easy-to-spot signs that you can use as road signs to tell you how close you are to success. In this section, we will cover the 3 most common road signs. These are:

1 – The wave of sleep paralysis

2 – Pre race noises OBE

3 – Vibration

Sleep Paralysis Wave: Your Main Signal

We already covered the wave of sleep paralysis in Lucidology 101 part 2. Essentially, when your body shuts itself down in sleep paralysis, you will feel something like a heavy lead blanket over your body. This feeling is unmistakable and a sign that you are very close to success and can use the exit techniques that we will cover in part 12 to turn paralysis into an OBE.

Pre-OBE Noises: The Second Most Frequent Sign

The second traffic sign to watch out for is pre-OBE race noises. When you tune between stations on a radio, you get the sound of random static and white noise. Once you’re back at a station, things become clear. It’s the same with OBEs. You start out completely focused in your normal waking environment, and as you fall into a subconscious focus, you go through a kind of no man’s land where you’re not really conscious and you’re not really subconscious.

Rushing noises can sound like a tornado or freight train

When you’re tuned to that no-man’s-land frequency, you hear noises that sound like random static or a train rushing by.

Vibrations: the most famous sign of progress

Around the same time that you hear fast noises, you can feel what are called OBE vibrations. Vibrations are probably the most famous phenomenon associated with OBEs and are also the effect that has the most misconceptions. Almost everything in OBE books about vibrations is just plain wrong and so this is a place where a lot of people get stuck. They get to the vibration stage and then hang up because they use an ineffective method from the bad advice they read in a book.

The 3 Misconceptions About Critical Vibrations

The 3 misconceptions about vibrations are:

1.) What are they

2.) What they mean

3.) How to use them.

What vibrations are not

This is what vibrations are not. Vibrations are not a subjective kind of thing where it’s like you’re “feeling the vibrations, man, way off!”. Vibrations are much more mundane than that.

How are the vibrations?

If you make a VVVVV sound, the sensation of vibrations on your lips is very similar to the sensation of vibrations that often appear along with intermediate stages of paralysis. Sometimes the vibrations can be extremely strong and feel like electricity, other times they are completely absent. It is very rare that the vibrations are strong enough to cause pain; they are usually felt as a harmless buzzing in the head and chest area.

Types of OBE vibrations

However, sometimes they can go all over the body. These can be incredibly loud and feel like you’re holding a chainsaw. Many people report feeling them in the spine. In one case, I woke up to an OBE in my bed and it sounded exactly like there was someone with a hedge trimmer outside my window. I realized it was because I had unusual vibrations coming from what I later found out to be the L1 lumbar vertebrae in my lower back. I used deep breathing to come back from the OBE because I was using more energy than seemed safe.

Most OBE vibrations are harmless

That was a very unusual experience and most of the time you won’t actually have any vibration, and if you do, it’s no more powerful than the sensation of a vibrating cell phone.

The basic thing to know is that once you have had vibrations, you will know. There will be no doubt in your mind about it because it is just a buzzing and noisy sensation.

Misconception #2: What OBE Vibrations Mean

The second misconception is that most books will tell you that when you have vibes you are ready to go EFC. This is completely opposite to reality. The vibrations mean you are NOT ready to go out and here’s why.

Two signal double power

Physical and non-physical awarenesses are types of signals that you focus on. During the middle stage of an OBE output, you are transitioning from one to the other and experience both physical and non-physical cues. These signals have energy. When you add both signals together, you go through a phase where you’re running twice the amount of power you normally would.

Double energy can result in intermodulation distortion

If this energy is more than your system can comfortably handle, it becomes distorted. The big fancy signal processing name for this is intermodulation distortion. The name is not as important as the fact that this hump of energy doesn’t go on forever, it comes and then goes and this is critical to understanding how to deal with vibrations.

Vibrations mean you’re not ready to go out – wait “The Quiet Zone”

Because excess energy comes and goes, you gain a ‘quiet zone’ once you have fully focused out of physical focus and into non-physical focus. So it looks like this: you begin in physical focus with no vibrations. You relax into a nearby OBE and get light vibrations. You relax almost to the point of separation and you get very strong vibrations. This is where most people screw it up because of the bad advice in the books. The trick is to simply continue to relax further and beyond the vibrations until the vibrations have completely subsided. Once you’re in the quiet zone after the vibrations, that’s how you know you’ve completely switched to the OBE.

Unbalanced Tire Analogy

The power hump is like a truck you used to have with out of balance tires. When it hit 45 MPH it would start to vibrate the whole truck. At 55 MPH it would smooth out again. The 45-55 MPH range was a transition range that caused the tires to vibrate against each other. Pre-OBE noises and vibrations are the same: you are phased in and out of two different physical and non-physical signals.

What about OBEs without vibrations?

Keep in mind that vibrations only occur when the total energy goes beyond what your non-physical body is capable of handling. The more OBE you do, the more energy you can run smoothly and the less vibration you will have. Eventually, almost all of your OBEs will be vibration free.

Vibration-free OBE

You will go from awake awareness, with no vibrations, to OBE with no vibrations, which means that you will have to rely on other signals that we will cover later to know if you are in OBE. this is why OBEs without vibrations are much brighter and clearer than OBEs where you have to go through massive vibrations.

Why vibration-free OBEs are brighter and clearer

Why would that be? In a chainsaw, noise is caused by friction. Vibrations are a form of noise, so vibrations are a form of friction. Friction is a waste of energy. Chainsaw noise is a waste of physical energy and therefore vibrations are a waste of non-physical energy.

When you’re in vibrations, you’re wasting energy, so it’s a state you want to relax into as quickly as possible.

Misconception #3: What to do about vibrations

The next misconception is what to do once you’re in vibes. For example, Robert Monroe wrote that you should try to ‘sweep’ the vibrations up and down your body before separating. Is this good advice or not?

relaxation is the only solution

The only way to reduce vibration is to reduce the pressure that causes friction, and that means relaxing.

If you hit the vibrations and then try to do something, whether the vibrations go up and down your body or something else, then the only thing you are NOT doing is relaxing. And relaxing is exactly the only thing to do when you have vibrations because the only way to release friction is to relax. No other solution will work.

This is why vibrations are a big hurdle for most OBEers, because when they’re trying to do something, anything, they can’t just relax in the quiet zone.

Definitely DO NOT try to force your way out when you are in the middle of the vibrations. You will almost certainly be drawn back into your body as you have not yet paired with a non-physical focus.

The “How Close to an OBE? Meter” Meter: Relax Through Vibrations

Even if you do manage to get out, you’ll have expended so much power on the output that the resulting OBE will probably be so dark and low on power that you’ll just wobble and not be able to do anything fun anyway. . It is much better to relax through the vibrations in the quiet zone and then effortlessly leave the body.

The Sneaky Loop Hole: Photographic Trance

By the way, there is a sneaky loop hole that allows you to cheat so you can OBE even when you are in the middle of vibrations. We’ll cover this sneaky trick in Lucidology 102 part 3. The trick is to go into something called a photo trance which allows you to have OBEs in much lighter levels of trance so you don’t have to be in full sleep paralysis to break away.

Get out even in the midst of vibrations

This loophole also opens the door to a technique called ‘trance recycling’. Trance recycling allows you to have a dozen or more OBEs in a row and quickly accumulate a large number of OBEs in a single session.
