one meal at a time

If you have a lot of weight to lose (like me) it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by how big the task is. Don’t be discouraged.

Like any large undertaking, building a pyramid or building a complex computer program, the easiest way to manage the project is to break it down into smaller components.

The smallest components to losing weight are a single meal and a single day of exercise. Every meal is a new beginning and every day a clean slate. By making more good decisions than bad, and exercising more days than not, you’ll get there.

Don’t worry about the small stuff and don’t focus on the scales. Weigh yourself once a week, in the morning, and take your measurements once every two weeks or even once a month. It’s the tape measure and your clothes that will tell you how you’re doing long before the scale does.

It is not unusual to gain weight even though you are losing fat. She had been exercising like crazy and eating 5-6 small amounts a day as she should. Being a big guy at over 6 feet and weighing over 275 pounds, he should have been able to lose weight quickly and easily, at least at first. If you have seen “The Biggest Loser” you will see how much weight can be lost in a short period of time. Of course I don’t have all the free time to spend on a treadmill. The frustrating part was that even though my clothes fit better, they were too fixed on the scale and wouldn’t budge.

It was discouraging because I let it be. You need to take the positives and write them down. Keep a journal about what you are doing, eating, exercising, and how you are feeling. That will be the subject of a new article soon. By writing down your feelings and progress, you have something to refer to when you start to get discouraged. It will help you get ahead… It does it for me.

Stay focused and take one meal at a time.
