Xbox 360 Games – 2008 Annual Review – The Casual Gamer

A heart for the peaceful gamer

The XBox360 has always had an open mind for the hardcore gamer, but there has been a new target audience in the sights of game developers and publishers: the casual gamer. And we all know that playing Non Shooter Games and Non Violent Games can be a lot of fun too. In this same field, a good form of franchise has been noticed. It started with LEGO Star Wars and continued with LEGO Batman and LEGO Indiana Jones. The latter has been especially appreciated by gamers, a well-established gaming community ranked the guy with the leather cat and the wip at 3rd place. Jump ‘n Run of his best kind. But the first two ranges are taken up by two of the Musicgames genres, which we’ve seen quite a few of lately. It started with the plastic guitar controller and Guitar Hero scored really well. But that was not the end. Rock Band began to enjoy the masses, now they also wanted to play guitars, microphones and drums. Activision is still followed on Guitar Hero: World Tour and these games secured second place. The king of genres became Electronic Arts’ Rock Band, which followed with a sequel in 2008 featuring

Rock Band 2 Level up your life

Epic and well-made RPGs are still a dearth on the MS-Console. But these games are on the move and some gems made their way onto the shelves of Xbox 360 in 2008. Especially when it comes to Japano-Role games. Probably the most beloved game within the Asian genre was Lost Odyssey, an epic fairy tale about the immortal hero Kaim, on a quest for his long lost memories, thus reaching rank 3. It covers a total of four (!) DVDs. and it runs exclusively. on the Xbox 360.

Games-Tale narrator Peter Molyneux has featured one of his highly recommended games (by him, that is …). Again, exclusively for Xbox 360, we got the sequel to the famous Xbox-Game Fable. A fairy tale story and with somewhat irritating Sims-Elements is what this game is about. However, the fans loved it and it’s not a bad game either. Rank 2 for Fable 2.

All the way to number one, a special title, being the number one contestant of the game of the year: Fallout 3. The adventures of the little inhabitant of the Vault, in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Washington DC, have won many fans. At the end of the year.

Sports games in 2008

Now, where would the World of Games be without the great Sports Games? In this genre there were many very good titles that we could not include in our small ranking. Position 3 is shared by two games. First of the third round of Top Spin, loved by tennis fans. That also applies to all American football fans with Madden NFL 09, which encountered more innovations in 2008. In Europe, the top two positions went to: 2. Ranking: Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and NHL 09 / NHL 2K9. The winner, with 79% of the votes. It was: FIFA 09. But other games from different sports made their appearance in 2008, like NBA Live 09 and NBA 2K9. Even golfers got their share of very good games with the Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf 09.

Let’s take a look at the “Racers”. Not only motorsports simulations, but arcade-style “pedal to the metal” games were hugely successful last year. In 2007 Colin McRae: DIRT made the charts and did very well. Followed in 2008 by the same team, Race Driver GRID, he impressed his fans. Very cool street racing with an attractive graphic helped this game to get number 3. A small but very nice game surprised the Xbox 360 Community: Pure. Speeding through the boonies with a Quad, spectacular stunts and stunts with monster jumps! Pure fun for almost everyone and therefore position 3 in the Racer category. And also in the “Surprises of the year”!

But no end is in sight. Developer Criterion has made an impact with the Burnout series years ago. Part 4 of the series started working, as: Burnout Paradise. The mix of “Open Reality”, impressive speed with reckless jumps, and plenty of fender shocks still has its fans going. Perhaps another reason is free updates with valuable benefits that are delivered in a timely manner. So the number one position is for Racer-Town “Paradise City”.
