Boise State Broncos and Blue Voodoo

If imitation is the best form of flattery, then the Boise State Broncos just got the best compliment. Oregon State University is turning its driving range blue.

Yes, that is correct. The 24th-ranked Oregon State Beavers travel to Boise, Idaho and face the No. 3 Boise State Broncos in a game to be played on national television thanks to ABC. For the first time, Boise will host the national game day program.

To get ready for the game, OSU’s brain trust is turning his practice field blue in hopes of getting over the “Blue Voodoo.” The last team to win a game against the Broncos at The Blue was Boston College in the 2005 Humanitarian Bowl. Before that it was the Washington State Cougars in I believe 2000.

The Beavers have visited Bronco Stadium twice before, the first time being in 2004 and it was the Boise States’ first win over a PAC 10 and BCS team. Twice they have been victims of Blue Voodoo.

I hate to tell you that practicing on a blue field will not help you. Anyone who saw them on Saturday night against the Wyoming Cowboys in Laramie knows what I’m talking about. Boise State totally dominated the Cowboys on both sides of the ball winning 51-6.

It seems like my Broncos are still shaking things up in the college football world, but painting the practice field blue is a first and the ultimate compliment to me. The big question is, will they practice in blue uniforms? Many teams over the years have complained that the Broncos appear to be difficult to find when wearing blue uniforms on a blue field. The Blue Voodoo loved it.
