Book Review

Pizza dough recipes and more

If you want to learn how to make homemade pizza, what ingredients to use, or just want a pizza dough recipe, this is a must-have book.

I got the book “Thursday Night Pizza” from Fr. Dominic Garramone, OSB. You may know him from his “Breaking Bread” series on PBS. This book is not only full of recipes that make me want to treat my family to pizza several times a week, it is simply fun to read. The book takes a look at his kitchen at St. Bede Abbey. You can almost smell the aroma of fresh homemade pizza, loaded with a selection of toppings most of us wouldn’t have thought of.

Homemade pizza recipes include:

  • Denver Dinner – You’ll find all the ingredients in a Denver omelette, including eggs.
  • Italian meat
  • Chicken with broccoli
  • Pizza Dough Recipes
  • Basic American-style bark
  • Italian-style bark
  • Sweet crust
  • Salsa Recipes
  • 8 minute sauce
  • Basil pesto
  • Parmesan Cream Sauce

I know that homemade pizza has been a family favorite for years. The pizza dough recipes in this book set the stage for amazing sauces and dressings. If you want to learn how to make homemade dough, you will not only learn the best techniques, but also the recommended tools to achieve the best results. This book is fun to read, and I know that when making pizza I will use some of the great recipes that Father Dominic shares in his book. I don’t know about you, but I’ll put it on the menu this week!

His book is available on Amazon.
