Modern Warfare 2 Vs Battlefield – Bad Company 2 – Which has better multiplayer gameplay?

This is an argument I’ve heard for the past few months, and both sides have good points (they’re BOTH great games).

There are a LOT of variables in these games, but we’ll stick to 5 basics in this comparison. So let’s start with:

* Weapons – Lots of great options for both games, no doubt about that. BBC2 has more weapon options, but the customization options in MW2 are far superior. Another point to note is that the sound of guns on BBC2 is AWESOME! It also seems easier to successfully use the variety of weapons for each skill class (or kit in BBC2) in Modern Warfare 2 than in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. It’s harder to level up in BBC 2 if you don’t play the kit assault, and this becomes a problem later on when most of the team is assault class.

Winner: Modern Warfare 2 – Overall this is a very close decision, but I personally give this one to Modern Warfare 2. Mainly due to more consistency in kill ability between classes and more customization options.

* Variety-Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer modes include: Free-For-All, Search & Destroy, Demolition, Sabotage, Domination, Team Deathmatch and Capture The Flag, and various other customizations of these game types. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer modes include: Conquest, Rush, Squad Rush, and Squad Deathmatch.

Winner: Modern Warfare 2 – There sure is a lot more variety in online games.

* Vehicles: No need to think about it here! The only vehicles you can ride/drive in MW 2 are killstreaks, and even then not for long. BBC 2 has gunships, tanks, trucks, jeeps, helicopters and more. Beat that MW 2! Hello Infinity Ward; Why are there no vehicles for MW 2?

Winner: Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Sadly the only game to compete in this category.

* Maps – An interesting comparison for her as both games have a lot of quality maps with a lot of open terrain and a variety of desert, jungle and urban environments. The maps and buildings in MW 2 are more detailed, however they are much less destructible. A big thing about BBC 2 is the big explosions, and while there are way too many empty buildings on BBC 2, it’s fun to blow them up! Another feature to note is that there are a lot more hiding places (for campers) in MW 2, especially outside.

Winner: Modern Warfare 2 – Much more detailed and realistic maps overall.

* Exploits, cheats, noob-tubing, host migration – For me, this section is by far the most problematic when it comes to MW 2. Once in a while it’s fine, but after 5-10 minutes of being constantly bombarded with rockets and grenades, he gets very old. It would be nice if the game stopped pausing to migrate the host every 2 1/2 minutes as it is common for this to happen 2-4 times per game. One other thing I’ve noticed a lot in the last 2 months in MW 2: I started a team deathmatch game yesterday. I immediately spawn in the last 30 seconds of a match on the losing team, with a helicopter flying over the spawn point killing players. After being INSTANTLY killed twice in about 25 seconds, the entire game has now ended with a loss in the record books. uh yeah This makes me want to throw the controller against the wall and scream! although to be fair, MW 2 has a lot more players.

Winner: Battlefield Bad Company 2-Once again, hands down. Because if I see one more kid in Modern Warfare 2 with a hacked gamer tag with the little buttons on the controller, I’m going to freak out!

Overall Winner: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2! This is a tough decision and really just a personal opinion, but the addictive leveling system and incredibly smooth player control featured in COD is the main reason for this decision. Although, frankly, if the other nuances described at the end of this article aren’t fixed soon, I might change my mind about that!
