One week vacation in Rhodes – Greece

Choosing a summer vacation in Rhodes is something you will never regret. It is one of the hottest and most popular Greek islands and attracts visitors from all over the world. Rhodes was home to the Colossus which was one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World and as you enter the port of Rhodes city you will see that Rhodes can still take your breath away.

Spending a week in Rhodes is never enough and you need a longer stay when money permits, but this guide will show you some of the best places to see on your Rhodes vacation.

Stop first in the town of Rhodes, where you can admire the medieval architecture of the Palace of the Grand Masters built in the 14th century by the Knights of Rhodes, which is now a museum of archaeological artifacts found around Rhodes. There is much more to see in the city of Rhodes with the Acropolis of Rhodes, one of the most popular. Be sure to spend some time in the bustling town of Rhodes and for authentic Greek culture, try to stay in the old town of Rhodes where you will find charming cafes and small shops selling a variety of gifts.

Continuing from the city of Rhodes, you can visit the Rodini Park, which is believed to be the first landscaped park in the world, built and enjoyed by the Romans, you can still see the ancient aqueduct that they built. The park is home to wild peacocks that breed naturally here and even on a hot day the refreshing shade of the trees and the calming flow of the creek make it an ideal place to relax and unwind.

Going down the coast, you will find one of the most popular places in Rhodes to visit. The town of Lindos begins on the beach and climbs the imposing rock that characterizes the town. The rock is home to the Acropolis of Lindos and for 6 euros you can visit the Acropolis and get stunning views of the bay and the city of Lindos. We recommend paying the extra 5 euros for the donkey ride up the hillside. Lindos has some of the most magnificent beaches with golden sand that slopes gently into the sheltered bay.

If stunning beaches are what you are looking for, then you must travel along the coast to Tsambika Beach. This is a popular stop for cruise ships, as the beach is one of the best in Rhodes. The beach is served by a small tavern where you can buy drinks and snacks, and you will find the beach without many people and protected from the wind. The beach is also one of the few nude beaches in Rhodes, but only a small section is dedicated to those who want to go without clothes, so if you are not willing to bare all your skin in the sun, then you have nothing to worry about. .

Right above Tsambika beach you will find the Tsambika monastery, after following the path that goes up from the beach, you will have to climb 350 steps to the top, at which point you will come across the small Byzantine church dedicated to Our Lady. The views from the top of Rhodes are fantastic and great for vacation photos.

If you have a family, then you should take them to the water park in Rhodes, which is located near the Faliraki party complex. The water park was voted the number one place to visit in Rhodes by TripAdvisor members. It’s not the largest park in Greece, but it offers some great attractions and some good facilities including cafes, lockers, and showers, as well as fully-qualified lifeguards.

If you don’t like spending the day at the beach or by the pool, visit the Valley of the Butterflies just 27 km from the city of Rhodes. This is one of the most attractive destinations in Rhodes and is at its best towards the end of May. Millions of butterflies congregate in the valley towards the end of the rainy season and it is a fantastic sight that children will love. Remember that you cannot disturb the butterflies as they are in steep decline due to the annoyance of the many visitors.

There are many more places that you can visit on your Rhodes vacation, including Seven Springs, Filemiros, Ancient Rhodes, and Kamiros and much more. But we will not spoil it and allow you to explore this stunning island by yourselves and we guarantee that you will return from vacation year after year as even the people who live in Rhodes find new things to see and do every day.
