Wood floors vs. Laminate flooring

Wood floors have been used in houses and even palaces for centuries. Laminate flooring, however, is a modern invention that is around 30 years old. (Laminate floors consist of laminate blocks of various designs, including those that look like hardwood floors.)

Hardwood floors come with their own benefits. They feel more real and sound like wood (because they are real wood), giving the whole house a real feel. A hardwood floor has a more natural feel than a laminate floor.

Laminate floors have a thick pad underneath, which makes them feel fluffy and buoyant, while hardwood floors provide a stronger, firmer feel. Often times, the cost of installing a hardwood floor and a laminate floor is almost the same. It is for this reason that hardwood floors are experiencing another surge in popularity.

On the other hand, the popularity of laminate flooring is increasing every day. This is because it looks and feels almost similar to hardwood flooring. It is durable and easy to install. Hardwood floors are more difficult to install and costly to repair if damaged. A laminate floor is much easier to maintain and clean than a wooden floor. There are no limitations as to where they can or cannot be placed.

In addition, laminate floors are available in various designs and are very easy to install on any type of floor. In addition, due to the special laminates and the treatment they are given, they do not wear out easily. They are not easily damaged either. And even if they do get damaged, it’s easier and cheaper to replace them than to replace your hardwood floors.

However, when it comes to the lifespan of both types of flooring, it is wood flooring that seems to last the longest, compared to laminate flooring. However, today there are many laminate floors available in the market that also come with the same lifetime warranty.

However, if you have pets in the house that can cause scratches on the floor, it is preferable to use wooden floors.
